greatness. Check 'em out jerky.

Greenmilk From the Planet Orange will start out and almost have
you believe their going to be a jam band. But when they reach a
fever pitch and explode into jaw dropping mayhem you will know
they are no such thing.  Akimbo as well are a powerful wall of
sound and energy , and The Mall are local favorite of mine. They
set up on the floor upstairs at the 12 Galaxies which makes getting
my favorite style of shots - way upclose and personal.
March 10 , The Hemlock
Qui, already being a great band for years  , in a stroke of genius ,
added the legendary David Yow from the likes of The Jesus Lizard
and Scratch Acid on vocals pushing them into instant greatness.
Yow's former bands being among my favorites of all time.
Replicator added the amazing Todd Grant again on second guitar  to
fatten and layer up their sound. Shooting this show was pure joy for
me. I'm way pleased with the  results.
March 11, The Uptown
After seeing the Saturday night show there was no way I could
miss the next night. This new Qui/Yow is great.  It was a great
weekend of rock shows and I'm way happy with all my captures.
March 24, The Uptown
Damnweevil has been around Oakland for some time  flying under
the radar of a lot of people whom I'm sure would love them.  If
you like huge walls of guitar rock heaviness ala Torche than I'm
sure you would like Damnweevil.  Some of Philly's finest , Stinking
Lizaveta have their own unique brand of intense  instrumentaly
arraganged chaos that had me gritting my teeth.
On the photography side of things , I did some shutter
zooms that I think turned out pretty sweet!
March 30 , 12 Galaxies
One of my favorites Kemo Sabe will cure your blues for days.
You can't not enjoy this band.
April
April 21 , The Parkside
May 4 , The Uptown
May
June 1 , The Stork Club
Salem Lights are as much of a part of Oakland as getting your
window smashed in. This was one of  their last shows.
June 2 , Bottom of the Hill
The Mae- Shi continue to be one of my favorites.  They made the
impossible transition to a new front man and somehow pulled it
off.   Ezra is missed but I think they nailed it .  They're super nice
guys and will leave you smiling every time.

July  4th, The Uptown
July 27 , Bottom of the Hill
Sliian Rail just shot up to one of my favorites.  First time seeing
them but definitely not the last.  Smart guitar and drums two piece
that go from beauty to explosions effortlessly.  This was a Thread
Productions showcase with four great bands I had yet to see.
August
August 25 , The Uptown
This was one of the best shows I've seen in a while.  All four bands
were great. I love it when bands can convince me they aren't just
playing house.  I was sold on each by the end of the first songs.
Highly  recommend each.
September
September 12, Cafe Dunord
Holy crap ! I had fun shooting this show. Theres nothing better
than bands that still thrive on audience energy and aren't afraid to
give it back. The rock band pool is so full of grown men with tight
pants and hair awareness that it makes a show like this so much
more enjoyable.  I've seen some great bands lately that have given
me that same feeling you used to get before every douche bag
new about every cool band. Myspace has sucked them all in , and
they fell for it hook , line and sinker.   The bonus is these bands
wearing the "shannon corr shot me' shirts.  Nice!

Black Cobra are so heavy I thought my teeth were gonna break !
They are local to me but tour so much I never get to see 'em.
Bummer. Their awesome.
October 17 , 12 Galaxies
Another Wednesday night of rock action.  Anyone of these
three bands come highly recommended by me. And if I like it
than its good. Period. Shut up.
December
November 2, Ghost Town Gallery
The first "Amps and Apertures" went off without a hitch and was
more awesome than I ever expected it to be. Many thanks to all
the bands and artists involved.
November 16, The Stork Club
December 1, Bottom of the Hill
More from the great Silian Rail and my first time shooting old friends
From Monument to Masses.   I was spellbound watching them.  So
beautiful and so much texture and layered sound. Loved it!
December 31, The Uptown
Last show of the year.  I've photographed The Mae-Shi since 2003
and they have continually been one of my favorite bands ever.
They remain the coolest band I have ever seen!
I was asked a few times this year about my photography - what I
do , if I  do any manipulation to produce my style and such. I've
been playing drums on stage way longer than photography so I
have a pretty good idea about how bands work. Thats were the
timing of a shot comes from. I don't use photoshop and I don't
manipulate photos.  I don't do any more development than I
would with film. If its color or monochrome its straight out of
camera.  As far as style goes, that has to be created by the
photographer.
Traditional music photography is boring and unoriginal and I'm all
for breaking the rules of photography when it comes to music.

Another year down . Shannon.
